Retirement.

We have decided to retire Underground Teapot after six and a half years.  The channel has run its course.  After we finally broke down and purchased our first annual passes in November 2015, we started this channel for our own personal enjoyment, memories, and to share with others our "One Year of Disney." Little did we expect to continue the channel for nearly six times longer, but we have enjoyed it and the feedback we have received.   Just to quell any speculation: we are still quite happily married, nor are we facing any health or financial challenges.  We still enjoy traveling and plan to continue traveling to Walt Disney World far too often than a normal well-adjusted couple should, as well as to other places.  We have documented most of our trips, but over the years, we also experimented in only sharing bits of some trips and other outings not at all.  However, things are starting to get repetitive, and our recent more laid back approach to visi...

Underground Teapot update and future outlook

(by Howard) Currents Thoughts on Walt Disney World I have never been so minimally excited on travel to Walt Disney World.  Our APs have been extended to mid-March, 2021 from October, 2020.  Due to familial obligations, we are traveling to and from Florida in January and March of next year, so we have trips booked for those times.  Leah has a birthday in March too with another trip booked.  We have an RV rental that we rescheduled from our canceled September 2020 trip to Fort Wilderness for our January trip.  In past times, this would be exciting. After all, we have three trips on the books, one for January, 2021 and two for March, 2021.  Just like old times.  While there is some excitement in my heart for these trips, it is muted.   I understand and support the use of masks everywhere within Walt Disney World property.  COVID is no joke.  Disney is a business and in the current environment cuts are inevitable.  Yet, Disney’s PR...

Upate & Canceled Trip

By Howard We rarely blog.  I thought a small update might be nice on things that may not make it into the vlog, but viewers might find of interest.  We were supposed to go on a five night trip to Disneyland in May.  Yes. LAND not world.  We had a flight booked. (Yes. Southwest) We had a room booked at the good neighbor hotel, Grand Legacy at the Park.  We had our tickets lined up and ready to go.  We had some decent plans sketched out with the help of our friends Holly and Benn, who have been to Disneyland a number of times.  Then life intervened.  Nothing life shattering or horrible, but we had a pair of ill (now recovered) pet illness and a parent who needed tending post unexpected surgery.  Perhaps we are trying to convince ourselves that the missed trip is not such a big deal, but it turned out crowd levels during the scheduled time for our trip were much greater than anticipated.  Also, the trip coincided with a scrim cover...

2018 Travel Update

By Howard 2018 is turning out to be One Year of Walt Disney World light.  From November 2015 to October 2016 we traveled to Walt Disney World six times, which is not a big deal if you live in Ocala, Florida.  However, residing in South Central Pennsylvania we were doing the trips we were pretty proud of ourselves in squeezing so much Mouse, and thinking back on it more objectively shows we have a bit of a disease.   Our original intent was to take 2017 off from Disney, and do some other vacation destinations.  We spent a week at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic doing nothing but sitting on a beach, relaxing, and drinking beer. We had planned on traveling to Dollywood too, but we became serious in the planning of the trip we too late to book at Dolly's Dreammore resort.  We really want to checkout Ms. Parton's hospitality. Therefore, that trip has been shelved for the time being.  Punta Cana was great as always.  We hope to return soon-ish within...

Blog explainer

By:Howard  The Underground Teapot blog is associated with the Underground Teapot YouTube channel.  I say associated while Leah and I are the authors of this blog and the hosts of the channel this blog is more than just a auxiliary to the YouTube channel   We plan for there to be a lot of posts that are connected to vlog posts, but not exclusively content that is related to the material on the YouTube channel.  At least at the birth of this blog the idea is to also post other things on our mind other than just travel along with the Disney and travel material.   Sometimes to explain in greater detail things that we vlogged and other times things that did not get recorded or did not make the edit. We have divergent interests so there is no real way to predict what we might post, but hopefully it'll end up informative and entertaining. Thanks for reading.
